Walkfest - the Newton Stewart Walking Festival is the biggest walking festival in the South of Scotland. Newton Stewart is only about 40 minutes away from Portpatrick so you can easily stay with us at Rickwood Guest House while enjoying the walks.

The Festival starts on Friday 7 May and continues until the following Thursday. There are several walks each day ranging from moderate through moderate plus, strenuous to very strenuous.

There is also evening entertainment including a ceilidh, a photographic journey round Dumfries & Galloway and a viewing of the stars in the late evening sky to celebrate Dumfries & Galloway`s designation as a "Dark Sky Park"

The walks are a great mix of mountain, hill, woodland, country roads and coastal walks
