best places to fish near portpatrick
Although Portpatrick Harbour is now little used by commercial fishing boats there are several options available for visitors to fish either in the sea or nearby lochs.
Rock Fishing from Portpatrick
There are 6 "seats" on the rocks around Portpatrick harbour and each can usually fish 3-4 people. Species available include cod, pollack, plaice, mackeral and mullet amongst others.
Portpatrick Community Council have included an excellent article in their newsletter giving full details of these seats and copies are available at Rickwood and other accommodation providers in the village.
Sea Fishing (from boat)
Portpatrick Charters operate sea fishing trips for groups at a cost of £350 for a full day or £180 for a half day. They also do nature watching / sceniic cruises from £50 per hour.
